2016 Heritage Walks Programme

We are pleased to announce our programme of Heritage Walks for this year.

New this year is the Trust’s very first Heritage Walk in Tickhill. The walks will be led by Steve Kimber and Andy Ward who have already taken over 1,300 guests on the Doncaster Heritage Walks in the last five years.

All the walks last approximately 2½ hours and the cost is £5 per person.

Numbers are limited to 20 per walk and advance booking is recommended.

2015 Architecture Competition Winners Announced

We are delighted to announce the winners of our 2015 architecture competition for Doncaster primary schools. Once again, Doncaster Civic Trust have worked with Sheffield School of Architecture to host this competition. Last November, masters students from the university worked with schools to help them think about architecture and how they could design exciting new buildings and structures for our competition.

First – Stirling Primary School – winners of the Eric Braim Prize worth £500 for their exciting design for a new arena in the town centre.

Second – Woodfield Primary School – win £250 for their innovative designs for an obstacle course to improve fitness at the school.

Joint Third – Hexthorpe Primary School – win £100 for their designs for a market to serve Hexthorpe.

Joint Third – Copley Junior School – win £100 for their designs for a multi-purpose observation and activities tower at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Congratulations to all the schools which took part in our competition and special thanks to all of the students from Sheffield.

Sounds Of Childhood Project Launch

We have great pleasure in inviting you to attend the launch of this exciting project.

Book a place at the Friday 29th January launch event and bring along your early years children to an afternoon of fun with sounds on Saturday 30th January in Doncaster town centre.

This is a collaboration between Doncaster Civic Trust, Sheffield University and The Bower Wirks and is part of the Trust’s built environment education programme.
