Storying Doncaster’s Sounds
Once again we are working with our friends from Sheffield University School of Education. After delivering the ‘Doncaster Toolkit’ on behalf of the Trust, Dr Lisa Procter has invited us to support and participate in a new initiative aimed at early years school children. At the heart of the project is the aim to help children interpret and articulate sounds in the built environment.
We of course want to encourage Doncaster’s young people to take an interest in the built environment. Lisa has taken a wider academic approach. The project fits well with the Trust’s education interests and we think it’s a great way to get our youngsters thinking about their surroundings.
In January 2016 Trust members took part in a workshop to help develop the project. As of September 2016, Lisa’s team are working to create a Toolkit type of product which can be distributed to Doncaster schools through the Trust. However, the project has a wider reach in the academic world and the expectation is that the resulting Toolkit will be capable of use in schools throughout the UK.
