‘Build a New Doncaster’
In autumn 2014 we launched our inaugural architecture competition for primary schools in Doncaster. This initiative is part of our new education programme aimed at encouraging our young people to take an interest in Doncaster’s built environment.
With our partners at Sheffield School of Architecture we invited schools to submit architectural designs for projects of their choosing. Participating schools were visited by teams of masters architecture students from the University of Sheffield who mentored the children in design techniques.
In March 2015 we were very pleased to announce that Hexthorpe, Stirling, Woodfield and Edlington Victoria Primary Schools had been successful in the competition.
The Eric Braim prize worth £500 was won by Hexthorpe Primary School.

The University have produced a booklet which provides details of the competition outcome which you can view here.
The 2014 competition rules can be viewed here.
We plan to hold the competition again this year and during May we will be contacting all primary schools to give them plenty of notice of the autumn 2015 competition.
Formal invitations to participate will be sent out in September 2015.
We do hope that there will be a good response from our primary schools.
